چکیده

Ni-20 wt pct Cr wires, as individual wires or within 3D woven structures, are alloyed with Mo, Al, and Ti by gas-phase surface deposition and volume interdiffusion. Mo deposition creates Mo-rich coating and Kirkendall pores. Al+Ti co-deposition creates uniform triple-layered coating. The resulting homogenized and aged Ni-(17.4-19.6)Cr-(1.6-1.8)Al-(2.5-3.6)Ti-(1.54.5)Mo(wt pct) wires exhibit c+ c¢ superalloy microstructure. This demonstrates the feasibility of fabricating 3D woven Ni-base structures via gas-phase alloying and heat treatments, into multi-element superalloys with solid-state bonding at wire contacts.

Nanoscale Cellular Structures at Phase Boundaries of Ni-Cr-Al-Ti and Ni-Cr-Mo-Al-Ti Superalloys

The microstructural evolution of Ni-20 pct Cr wires was studied during pack cementation where Al and Ti, with and without prior cementation with Mo, are deposited to the surface of the NiCr wires and subsequently homogenized in their volumes. Mo deposition promotes the formation of Kirkendall pores and subsequent co-deposition of Al and Ti creates a triple-layered diffusional coating on the wir...

Concurrent Growth of Kirkendall Pores and Vapor–Solid–Solid Protuberances on Ni Wires During Mo Vapor-Phase Deposition

During vapor-phase deposition at 1273 K (1000 C), by pack cementation, of Mo onto 127-lmdiameter Ni wires, two phenomena are observed to occur concurrently, leading to strong surface roughening: (i) the inward radial growth of Kirkendall pores below the wire surface and (ii) the outward growth from the wire surface of protuberances with sizes as large as 15 lm. Highaspect-ratio Kirkendall pores...

Microstructural study of Ti/3YSZ interface in NI 105/Ni/Nb/Ti/3YSZ diffusion bonding

In this research, the diffusion bonding of the stabilized zirconia ceramic and Nimonic 105 superalloy using Ti/Nb/Ni multi-interlayer was carried out. Joint was performed using the plasma spark technique in a vacuum atmosphere and at different temperatures and times. The microstructure of the different joint zones was studied using optical and FESEM microscopes equipped with an EDS analyzer. Th...

In situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...

Surface Activation of NiTi Alloy by Using Electrochemical Process for Biomimetic Deposition of Hydroxyapatite Coating (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Electrochemical depositions of calcium phosphate (Ca-P) film on NiTi alloy in concentrated simulated body flood (SBF×5) were carried out by cathodic polarization. The Ca-P layer was successfully deposited on Ni-Ti alloy substrate under 10mA/cm2 current density for 2 hours at room temperature. Then, in order to investigate the bioactivity of the pre-calcified samples, they were immersed in SBF f...
